Jungletots is part of the Moms and Tots Workshop Company which was founded in 1992. They provide a wonderful place for children to learn and play, and every day promises to be filled with exciting activities.

Some of their activities:

  • discussion about the different aspects of the weekly theme
  • perceptual area -  puzzles, threading, numbers, shape games etc
  • creative activity – painting, colouring, clay, cutting, collage, baking
    singing, instruments, finger plays, rhymes, movement to music
  • free play time which develops social skills such as sharing and taking turns
  • outside activities
  • drama and fantasy play
  • story time and puppetry

They also have an education outing each term. The teachers at Jungletots are always available to discuss each child’s progress and programmes are designed to enhance learning oportunities for gifted children.

For childen that need additional support, the teachers work in conjunction with occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech therapists.

Day care centre | Etafeni | Cape Town

Etafeni is a multi-purpose centre for children affected by AIDS and their caregivers. In spite of  anti-retroviral therapy, millions of children in South Africa have lost their parents to the disease and rely on care from other adults.

The Etafeni Day Care Centre Trust has a  multi-purpose day care centre which sustains and supports the community in their holistic care for children affected by AIDS.

The Centre is a base to support the caregivers of children who have been affected by AIDS so that the children are able to stay in their homes, at their schools and in their familiar community.

The Centre offers a spectrum of services -

  • a preschool
  • a vegetable garden  -for food and for food gardening  training
  • a nutrition programme
  • a Counsellor programme
  • income-generating activities – beadwork and sewing
  • supervised homework and afterschool care
  • a playground
  • counselling and training facilities
  • they provide a  home from home atmosphere for children affected by AIDS and their caregivers.
